Since it’s February, our hearts and minds are filled with romance. And, when we think of romance, historic European cities often slip to the forefront. Imagine a moonlit kiss under a street lamp in Paris or a quiet boat ride down a canal in Venice.

Wouldn’t that be a wonderful way to stoke the fires of love? If you agree, we have just the ticket. Get ready to board a plane hand-in-hand before returning home more in love than ever before.

Paris, France

Surely, an article with this title must begin in the City of Love, right? Strolling along The Seine, hand in hand with your lover is a treasure. Then, you have the hilly streets of Montmartre, packed with café after café. Catching a sunset from the steps of Sacré-Cœur will set the evening right. Of course, you’ll have to kiss beneath the Eiffel Tower at least once. But, the art, history, and romance that fills the Parisian air is palpable, making it a must-see when it’s time to spark some romance.

Venice, Italy

The Venetian sound of the water quietly lapping against the shore as you sip a glass of wine and savor an Italian dish is something everyone should experience at least once in their life – and doing it with your lover is twice as nice. Add in the splendor of St. Mark’s Square and all those historic bridges, and you’re basically walking in the pages of a romance novel. Try to come in the off-season, however. Even though Venice is larger than Paris, it gets so busy in the summer that it might take away from some of those quietly romantic moments.

Prague, Czech Republic

What could be more romantic than living in a fairy tale for a few days? That’s really the best – and only – way to describe Prague. We’re talking ancient castles, misty cobblestone streets, and sunset boat rides down the river. Be sure to make your way to Charles Bridges, particularly at sunset, to give your love a kiss as you stand on a piece of architecture dating back to 1357. Imagine how many others have done the same?

Bruges, Belgium

We don’t often think about Belgium when we think about love. But, it certainly exists in Bruges. Often touted as the “Venice of the North,” you’ll quickly see why. Plus, it has the same fairytale feel that Prague has with its medieval charm. You should definitely try to do it all here: go for a boat ride through the canals, explore the historic market squares, and feed each other sweet Belgian chocolates.
