The rankings combine three key factors:

  • Average IQ scores from World Population Review
  • PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) results from OECD
  • Research output per capita, including Nobel Prize recognition and scientific publications

Each was standardized to a 0–100 Smartness Score. Some countries with lower scores still rank high thanks to exceptional IQ or education levels, showing there is more than one way to be “smart.”
