When My Supervisor Absconded with My Super Bowl Tickets, I Took Action Resulting in the Loss of a Significant Client

More than Just A Game There has never been a more exciting football event than the Super Bowl, which has been around since 1967. There's more to it than just the game. A snack and a gathering of friends are the highlights. Supporting your team and hoping they win the trophy is what it's all about. If you were denied the chance to watch your team play live, what would you do? NFL Cup Pexels The NFL Cup is the only event that has every NFL fan glued to their TV in anticipation of finding out who wins. However, imagine what it must be like to sit on the 30-yard line during a game. It must be a thrilling experience. Take a moment to think about what it would be like if your tickets for that seat were stolen. Could you imagine what it would be like? 30-Yard Line Pexels Everybody who has tried knows how difficult it is to get tickets. Tickets for the 30-yard line aren't cheap either. The average ticket costs about $5,000 per person, which is beyond the reach of most of us. Roger had a chance, but his boss denied it to him. Roger Williams Pexels A consultant at a firm, Roger Williams was responsible for quite a few accounts. His career was a source of pride for him, and he worked hard. Roger's boss, Tim, didn't care all that much about Roger's performance. It was just a matter of Roger getting him new clients, and he was willing to throw anyone under the bus as long as he kept them. Big Fan Pexels It would have been wise for Tim to be more careful when it came to Roger because the consequences of his actions would be dire. Because Roger loved the 49ers, he made a lot of friends who shared his love of the sport. Among them was a man who shouldn't be messed with. Anthony Edmund Pexels Roger's client Edmund's Incorporated, whose CEO was Anthony Edmund. Roger could not risk losing him because he was one of the company's largest clients. His relationship with Roger was much deeper than it seemed since he was also a big 49ers fan. These two were more like friends than business partners. Mutually Beneficial Pexels It was actually Roger and Anthony who were close friends, but no one knew it at the office. It was common for their business meetings to end with dinner and drinks since they were so close. A mutually beneficial relationship was the business side of it. Nevertheless, Anthony wanted to show his appreciation for Roger's hard work, so he gave him a special gift to show his appreciation. The Tickets Pexels To present his friend with the Super Bowl tickets, Anthony slipped the tickets into a blank envelope and headed over to the consulting firm. Upon arrival, he gave the envelope to Tim and asked him to give it to Roger to thank him for his hard work. It never occurred to him that Tim would do what he did. Getting A Client Pexels Seeing the two tickets inside the envelope before giving it to Roger, Tim knew it was the opportunity of a lifetime. Presenting the tickets to the client might help them reconsider what he was offering, as he had struggled to hook them. Missed Opportunity Pexels In the meantime, Roger was going about his day, completely unaware of the huge opportunity he had just missed. But why did Anthony not deliver the envelope personally if Roger was at the office? What made him want to give Tim the tickets at such a risk? His plan went horribly wrong. Surprising A Friend Canva Because Anthony didn't want everyone at the company to know what he had done, he didn't want to give Roger the envelope in person. His goal was to surprise his friend without endangering their professional relationship. In addition, he never imagined Tim would steal from a client. It wouldn't take him long to find out. Better Than Nothing Canva Saturday was the big game day, and Roger was ready. There were a few friends over, and his snacks were ready. While Roger waited for the introduction to begin, he wished he had the $5,000 to purchase a ticket. I would have loved to have seen the 49ers up close and personal. It was up to him to make the most of what he had. Still Enjoyed it Pexels Roger enjoyed the show even though the 49ers lost that game. After all, the 49ers just made it back to the Super Bowl, and that was worth watching in and of itself. Although the loss stung a bit, he still enjoyed watching them. Only if he had known how much better it could have been. Where Was He Canva Roger and Anthony met for drinks a few days later, and Anthony asked him something he didn't expect. “Why didn't you attend the game, by the way? There was someone else sitting in your seats.” Anthony's words caused Roger's brows to furrow, and he informed him that he didn't have tickets. At that point, everything was revealed. Tim Had To Deliver It Canva According to Anthony, his company has tickets to every Super Bowl game, and these are not just any tickets. It was a 30-yard row. Aside from that, he also told Roger that he had given up his two seats for him. Roger was told about Anthony's surprise and that Tim was supposed to give him the tickets. It took Roger a moment to come to his senses. Unbelievable Canva The moment Roger told Anthony he hadn't received the tickets, his friend was visibly angry. Before saying anything else, he needed proof, being the composed businessman he was. Roger agreed to do some digging and see what he could find, which Anthony suggested. Tim's real intentions were unknown to either of them. Getting Answers Canva While at the office, Roger kept his ears open, but nothing came up. Neither the Super Bowl nor Anthony's tickets to Tim were mentioned. He would have to step up his game if he wanted answers. It would be necessary for him to ask questions, and he knew just who to turn to. Someone Has To Know Canva Roger would start by talking to the secretaries, who knew everything. No one would reveal anything to him when he asked around. In the midst of despair, Roger was about to give up when Emma told him Tim had given the tickets to a prospective client he was trying to win over. Revenge Canva Usually, Roger didn't get irritated by office politics, but this time it was boiling his blood. A seat in those seats would have meant the world to him, as he loved the 49ers. He wished he could take revenge, but Tim was his boss, and anything he did would result in his firing. However, he didn't back down. It would just be a matter of being cautious. Telling Anthony Canva Roger texted Anthony with everything he had discovered after he calmed down a bit. Anthony wasn't as cool about it this time. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” he replied. Soon after, another text message arrived saying, "Pretend I never told you. I'll handle it.” Roger chuckled. It was just what he needed. Won’t Get Away With This Canva In the days that followed, Anthony kept Roger updated on his plan, but he was vague about what exactly he was planning to do. There was only one thing Roger knew: Tim wasn't going to get away with what he had done, and Anthony expected them both to appear in his office the following week. New York Canva In a week's time, Tim and Roger arrived in New York, where Antony was waiting for them. Roger could only think about Anthony's plan during the flight. He wondered how his cunning friend's plan would affect their business relationship. What would happen if he terminated his contract? Meet Angelica… Again Canva Anthony introduced Tim and Roger to a woman named Angelica when they arrived. Anthony told Angelica she must've already met Roger since he was at the Super Bowl, and Roger was speechless. The trick only became apparent then. She did not recall Roger and said that two people from Olpharia Inc. sat in the seats he mentioned. Cover For Me Canva Despite his lump in the throat, Tim asked Roger to cover for him. Tim began stumbling over his own words after Roger shook his head. An utter look of confusion crossed Anthony's face as he looked at Tim. After that, he told Tim that he had personally given him the envelope containing the tickets and asked him to give them to Roger. Take Your Things And Leave Canva When Tim found himself in a bind, he did everything he could to hide his own shame. Even going so far as to say that Roger was unable to attend, as well as accusing him of giving the tickets away. His audacity continued as he turned to Roger and pleaded for help. Tim's things were gathered by Anthony and handed to him with a smirk. More To The Plan Canva However, Anthony's plan went much deeper than that. With all the evidence in hand, he was furious that Tim had actually stolen the ticket. As long as he made sure his friend wasn't hurt, he would make sure the man paid for deceiving him like that. No Way Out Canva “Tim, those tickets were a thank-you gift from me to Roger.” Anthony was barely able to contain his fury. Have you given them to another client?" "Maybe there was a mix-up at work?” Tim said, even though it was clear there was no way out. After a moment of silence, Anthony turned to Roger. Damage Control Canva “I must find another way to demonstrate my appreciation,” Anthony said. “Would you be interested in joining us for lunch?” In an attempt to do damage control, Tim accepted the offer immediately, but he was surprised at what he found. “My relationship with you needs to be evaluated. We will contact you next week," Anthony said in a cold tone. One More Thing Canva Roger received a text from Tim on the way to the restaurant asking for help. Then Anthony revealed the true nature of his revenge. In response, he laid out his demands. He wanted reimbursement for the Super Bowl tickets and the very expensive lunch they had. The company should apologize directly to Edmund's Incorporated for what they considered to be theft, and Roger should receive a direct apology from Tim. It was also decided to remove Tim from their project. There was more to come, however. Good Friends Canva In the aftermath of the announcement, Roger looked like a hero throughout the company. In addition to losing all his profits, Tim was forced to repay all the invoices relating to the case after he was removed from the project. Several months later, Roger left the company, and Anthony terminated his contract shortly thereafter. Due to Tim's desire to steal tickets to the Super Bowl, they lost their most important client.
