Boy’s Daily Chicken Wing Orders Persist Until Teacher Decides to Investigate

Against School Policy A sudden change in Gavin's behavior caught his teacher's attention. Afterward, she saw something much worse. Despite being an outgoing young man, Gavin started closing himself off a few years ago. That's when it all began. This child was eating chicken wings every single day, which was against school policy as well as unhealthy. Despite her reluctance, his teacher took action. Every single test he took was passed with flying colors and he grasped new topics in just a few hours. It all changed one day, though. As a result, he avoided the other kids at all costs and was extremely distracted. For someone who was as outgoing as he was, it was a strange experience. Acting Strange Pexels Gavin's sudden change did not end there. In addition to when he began acting in that manner, his teacher noticed him meeting a delivery man at lunch. He never showed her what he was buying, but she knew that it came from a chicken company. It seemed odd to Mrs. Stevens that he would be ordering lunch. Due to his dad's frequent travel as a businessman, it seemed reasonable. Too Much Chicken Pexels Having Gavin order in every day was concerning. In spite of the fact that she knew someone was taking care of the boy, Mrs. Stevens wondered why he wasn't packed a healthy lunch according to school policy. She decided one day to eavesdrop on Gavin's conversation with the delivery driver out of curiosity. According to the driver, there are always 12 wings. It Wasn’t For Him Pexels A 13-year-old eating 12 wings a day stunned Mrs. Stevens. Gavin did not actually consume the wings, as she realized as time went on. The delivery driver arrived. The wings were packed into Gavin's backpack after he paid for the order. In fact, he never even opened the box. What’s Going On Pexels In her view, it was Mrs. Stevens' duty to find out what was going on. Although she had no idea what Gavin was eating at home, she would not let any parent get away with such a diet. She began probing Gavin's personal life after class one day. According to her, this boy was being starved. Evading Her Questions Pexels In spite of her best efforts, Mrs. Stevens couldn't get a straight answer from the youngster. As a result, he evaded all of her questions, and ended up storming off. Despite this, Mrs. Stevens was not giving up. She hoped to obtain an answer from him by asking him questions. On the next day, Gavin showed up at class with a blue eye, and Mrs. Stevens knew something had to be done. After questioning him and failing to help, she offered some helpful advice. It took a week or so for Mrs. Stevens realized the boy had a broken rib as well as the blue eye becoming a busted lip. Her concern for his situation almost led her to call child services. However, she decided not to take such a drastic step until she knew more about what was happening. Closely Monitored Pexels Gavin was closely monitored by Mrs. Stevens over the next few months. His injuries seemed to be healing, but he continued to order wings every day. As Mrs. Stevens pondered what the boy was going through when he wasn't in school, she spent many sleepless nights worrying. If only he would ask her for help or just talk to her… Unsatisfied Pexels Gavin didn't entirely avoid his teacher, however. His answers to her questions about his injuries were always unsatisfactory. He seemed to fabricate his responses. His injuries were usually caused by tripping and falling down stairs or being in a fight with a fellow student. Offering Support Canva As a result, Mrs. Stevens tried to be as supportive as possible whenever they had a little talk. It was her hope that it would encourage him to talk more openly. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case. Rather than discussing his problems with her, Gavin closed himself off once again, and it appeared that he avoided her for a while. After School Canva After the school bell rang, the children dashed out of their classrooms as if their lives depended on it. Their excitement was understandable since it was Friday. Mrs. Stevens left as well. Gavin ventured into the city, and she followed him on her bicycle. Despite being close, she did not get too close. Her last wish was to give herself away. Under His Hood Canva Increasingly nervous, Gavin pulled his hoodie over his head as they approached the dangerous side of town. It was beginning to scare Mrs. Stevens, but she hadn't made it this far yet, and she wouldn't leave until she found the truth. Furthermore, she wondered what a boy like Gavin was doing in a place such as that, where he was so secretive. He Simply Disappeared Canva Mrs. Stevens increased her pace as Gavin turned a corner. Her case was so close to being resolved that she couldn't risk losing him now. She was stunned to discover Gavin had gone as she sped around the same corner. Having just walked into the dark alley, she didn't see him anywhere. Cold And Rude Canva The boy's father was immediately contacted by Mrs. Stevens because she feared for the boy's safety. The man was initially cold and rude to her, accusing her of interrupting an important meeting. Her explanation changed his tone once he realized what had happened. Gavin's father assured Mrs. Stevens not to worry. As soon as the next flight became available, he would board it. Absentee Canva Mrs. Stevens awaited Gavin's arrival anxiously the next day. As a result, she apologized to him for following him. She was sure that his father had explained what had happened to him. Gavin did not attend school the next day or the day after that. The feeling of guilt was overwhelming for Mrs. Stevens. In her opinion, she might have caused far more trouble for him than he needed. Big Change Canva After two weeks, Gavin finally returned, and he seemed a different man. His concentration was unwavering, and he aced the pop quiz. But Mrs. Stevens was still curious about the chicken. As break time approached, she headed outside, and what she saw stunned her. Lunch Box Canva The lunch box Gavin was holding contained a healthy snack, which Mrs. Stevens noticed when she got close to him. It didn't seem to be a pleasant experience for the boy. He was holding the box with such force that his knuckles were white, and his expression made her know he was unhappy. When she approached him, Mrs. Stevens asked to have a conversation with him. Ruining Lives Canva She was immediately attacked by Gavin once she sat down. “Have you even once considered the effects of your interference? ” he spat at his teacher. “You are ruining my life!” A speechless Mrs. Stevens could not express her feelings. It never occurred to her that Gavin would be so angry over chicken. He held a sandwich. What was wrong with it? Trying To Help Canva However, Mrs. Stevens felt more than shock. A sense of guilt also overtook her. Despite her best efforts, it seemed like she caused more harm than good by attempting to get this bright student back. As a result of her guilt, she handed Gavin a hundred dollars, telling him, "I was just trying to help." Gavin took the money, almost grabbing it and left. Change Of Perspective Canva The actions of Mrs. Stevens wasn't entirely motivated by guilt. Gavin's father might be responsible for everything, so she gave Gavin the money hoping it would help her get to the bottom of things. That's exactly what happened. As soon as she found what she was looking for, her entire perception of Gavin was transformed. It turned out that he was not the boy she had imagined he was. Tailing Behind Canva She followed Gavin again that afternoon, this time staying close to him. When they reached the corner, she sped up as they walked through the city like the previous time. In just the right moment, she saw Gavin looking around before entering a long-abandoned building. She realized that this was it. Abandoned Building Canva As Mrs. Stevens approached the building, she looked up at it. Even though she was fighting the sudden urge to run in the other direction, deep down, she knew that this was not the place for a woman or a teenager. Why was Gavin there? Is that the place he lived in? He had to stop whatever he was doing, and she would make sure that he never went back there. Just In Case Canva Two urgent calls were made by Mrs. Stevens before heading in. Gavin's father was one of the calls, as he hadn't left town since the last incident. In the second call, the police department was contacted. Just in case, Mrs. Stevens wanted the police to be there. Calling Out In Panic Canva After speaking with the police, Mrs. Stevens placed her phone in her pocket and walked into the abandoned building. Gavin's name was called out in a moment of fear when she heard muffled voices. Gavin, who was trying to escape, nearly knocked her over right after she heard footsteps approaching her direction. Mrs. Stevens, however, wasn't a softie. Grabbing Gavin's arm, she pulled him down to the ground. Authorities Arrived Canva Her nerves were still frayed when she heard the sirens outside. She was found sitting next to Gavin a few doors down the hall when the police burst into the building. Their response to the call was not satisfactory and they wanted answers immediately. The look on Gavin's face was similar to that of a deer in headlights. As he spoke, he was pale and stammered. His game was over. The Little Girl Canva In the middle of Gavin's explanation, someone peeked around the corner. “Gavin?,” the little girl asked, trembling. In a flash, Gavin jumped up and ran toward her. The toddler was found two years ago, he explained. Ever since she asked him for food when he was exploring the city, he has been caring for her. His only wish was to provide her with a proper home since he often had to protect her. However, his father wouldn't allow it. It didn't occur to him that his dad was listening to him at that moment.
