The Best and Worst Airports In the World In 2025
Typically, when booking airfare, we look for the best deals on the most direct flights. There’s no harm in that; it’s the best way to play the game. But, if you ever have the chance to specifically route yourself through the five “best” airports we’re about to discuss, we hope you will. You’ll find them a bit more relaxing, given all the amenities and cleanliness.
The five “worst” we’re about to discuss aren’t intolerable. They just don’t put us at ease the way Singapore and Munich might. So, if you have a couple of different options when it comes to routing your next set of flights, we hope these small insights will help you navigate things smoothly.
Best: Changi Airport, Singapore
At the top of every list, you’ll almost always find Changi Airport. It’s a dream for the senses. In our article, Best Airports to Have a Layover, we couldn’t say enough about it. Are you ready for this?
When you’re here, you’ll find a butterfly garden, an indoor waterfall, a rooftop pool, and an onsite cinema. Can you think of a better way to spend a few hours than a delicious meal, a stroll past a waterfall, and, if you have your bathing suit in your carry-on, a dip in a rooftop pool in Singapore?
Best: Hamad International Airport, Doha, Qatar
We have a few friends in Ireland who love traveling to Thailand every chance they get. When they do, they almost always try to break up the trip in Dubai or Qatar. Either one would serve you well.
But, we went with Qatar because their luxurious lounges and high-end shopping have such a wonderful feel. Everything’s clean, well-tended-to, and well-run. You can enjoy a proper sit-down meal and even treat yourself to a little bit of retail therapy, whether you’re just window shopping or swiping your gold card.
Best: Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Japan
In that same article on layovers, we discussed Narita International Airport – another winner. But, for the sake of argument, let’s add Haneda to this list. Its efficiency and proximity to Tokyo’s city center make it another great spot because you can walk around town, depending on how much time you have. Like Qatar, when you’re here, you’ll notice that everything is clean and upgraded. The bounty of dining options will also put you at ease when you’re ready to refuel.
Best: Incheon International Airport, Seoul, South Korea
Who’s got South Korea on their bucket list? We know we do – and we’ve done a lot of poking around to see what flying into Incheon might be like. Terminal Two is newer and nicely done. Everything feels clean, all the way down to the bathrooms.
And, if you’re interested, there’s a Korean culture zone where you can watch a few performances to understand local traditions a little more. Then, there’s the Transfer Lounge, which has comfortable seating where you can connect to the WiFi and a room where you can stretch out all those kinks from flying.
