Do you have Paris on your mind? Or maybe it’s Barcelona, Sicily, or Prague. Whichever corner of the world is calling your name, we’d lke to share some travel tips that frequent flyers swear by.

They’re immovable beliefs that make their flights a little smoother, accommodations a little more enjoyable, and memories a little bit sweeter. Our goal in sharing these is that, the next time you start packing for an adventure of a lifetime, you’ll return home with a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Go Solo

If you’ve ever wanted to challenge yourself, solo travel is a wonderful opportunity to see what you’re made of. Along with it comes an innate sense of accomplishment when you manage all your bookings by yourself, make the most of your new city, overcome the occasional challenge, and conquer a new city.

It also comes with a certain sense of weightlessness because you’re not beholden to other people’s timelines, preferences, and demands. For a dash of liberation, once you go solo, you may never go back.

Chat More Than You Would

Whether you’re going solo or in the company of someone you love, chat with those around you more than you normally would. If you sit beside a lovely older couple at the airport and they seem friendly, chat with them – especially if they’re from the palace you’re headed to next.

Chat with the taxi or Uber driver. Chat with the bartender at the local pub that you make your own. If it’s not too busy, chat with the barista at the coffee shop with the delicious Americanos. It’s the best way to pick up local recommendations and learn new things about the area. And, if you’re staying at an Airbnb, chatting with your host usually reveals a host of golden opportunities.

Consider Group Tours

Also whether solo or with a friend or two, look into group tours in your new city. Airbnb Experiences are generally very well done. Often, they’re run by locals who just want to share their hometown with passersby. Look on other platforms like Viator or Groupon.

Keep an eye out for food tours, particularly; they’re a great way to not only get to know more about the history of your new city, but also indulge in some of the best local fare. Group tours are, again, a lovely way to chat with new people, learn new things, and maybe even leave with a new friend to grab a drink with at the end of the tour.

Book the Right Airbnbs

Like every other decision we make when traveling, honing in on the right Airbnb is, perhaps, one of the most important things you’ll do. Start with a search of the area you’d like to stay in. Then, use the filters to find “Guest Favorites.” That means their reviews are superb and those who have stayed there in the past have enjoyed the property.

You also want to stay with Superhosts. Once they’ve hit certain milestones, they’re held to pretty high standards in order to maintain that Superhost status. Filter other features you think you’ll want like free parking or a washing machine.

Now, you have a more manageable list. Keep your eyes peeled for folks who have over 100 reviews (not just 20 or 30) and hone in on the ones with an average of 4.7 or higher. For more on this quest, here are 15 tips for booking the best Airbnbs.
