March is one of our favorite times to travel. For most cities, it’s the sweet spot where the weather is starting to let up a little, but the crowds aren’t filling up the streets just yet.

Whether you’d like a European getaway, a trip south of the border, or a long haul to Kyoto, we have a few suggestions in mind to help you close the door on one season and ring in the spring with a host of new memories.

Kyoto, Japan

Springtime signals the start of cherry blossom season. And, while there are many different places to take in those pink waves of splendor, we’d have to go with Kyoto if you were really serious about it all.

When you’re there, Maruyama Park and the Philosopher’s Path will offer the most splendid views. You can also visit Kiyomizu-Dera and Fushimi Inari Shrine for more breathtaking opportunities. Then, head down to the historic Gion district for some matcha treats before heading home to your traditional ryokan, or Japanese inn, for a wonderful night’s rest.

Lisbon, Portugal

Mild temperatures and fewer crowds make Match the ideal time to explore Lisbon. You can walk the colorful streets of Alfama, ride the iconic Tram 28, and marvel at the architecture of Belém Tower. In terms of tasty treats, it’s all about the pastéis de nata, or egg custard tart pastry, at hotspots like Pastéis de Belém. And, since it’s Lisbon, when you’re ready for a world-class seafood experience, Cervejaria Ramiro won’t let you down.

Seville, Spain

Like Lisbon, this is a nice time to come to Seville before the crowds take over. You’ll have more elbow room to explore the hallways of Alcázar Palace, marvel at the intricate tiles of Plaza de España, and watch a dramatic flamenco show in the Triana district. When you’re ready to try your hand at some tapas, you’ll love El Rinconcillo. And, to seal the deal with some churros, it’s all bout Bar El Comercio.

Santiago, Chile

Let’s head further south to sunny Santiago. With warm temperatures and clear skies, this is a heavenly time to come this far south of the border. You’ll certainly enjoy the Cerro San Cristóbal for its panoramic views. Then, you can wander through the artsy Bellavista neighborhood before touring a local winery in the Maipo Valley. For some truly authentic Chilean cuisine, be sure to try Boragó one night.
