What’s Coming to Disney World and Disneyland In 2025
2025 is a big year for California’s Disneyland – and, do you know why? It opened its magical doors on July 17, 1955. If 70 years isn’t something to celebrate, we don’t know what is! Celebrations will begin all across the parks on May 16, 2025. Let’s put on our party hats and see what we have to look forward to in the coming months and years.
Meet Your Favorite Villains at Magic Kingdom
Let’s kick things off with a look at Orlando’s Disney World. Do you have a favorite villain? If so, you’ll be able to get up close and personal when they open the doors to Villains Land: Unfairly Ever After. Construction has already begun beside Big Thunder Mountain and it will stretch all the way out to the Haunted Manion. That makes plenty of room for all our favorites like Ursula, Gaston, Captain Hook, Jafar, Scar, and many, many more.
Route 66 Paves Over Tom Sawyer Island
Look out, Tom Sawyer. Lightning McQueen is taking over your territory. It looks like Tom Sawyer Island and The Rivers of America are getting a makeover and Cars is coming to town. Technically, this will be an expansion of Frontierland, but Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will remain intact. Cars Land is enormously popular in Cali, so it only makes sense to bring it to Florida. We can look forward to a rally race ride that takes us through all the roads Lightning McQueen likes to venture down. No doubt, we’ll leave with, “Life Is a Highway” running through our minds.
Dinosaurs Face Extinction
Looks like Disney World will be sunsetting DinoLand U.S.A. for what they’re calling the Tropical Americas. It will be a celebration of the vibrant beauty and color that exists only in Central and South America. We’ll be seeing a lot of Indiana Jones and the Madrigals from Encanto. If you have special memories of DinoLand’s flagship attraction, DINOSAUR, this will be your last year to explore the jungle.
Monsters Inc. Comes to Town
Hollywood Studios is where so many of our favorites live: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. But, it’s time to move over, Muppets, and make way for Mike Wazowski. This will be a fun one, as the new ride will take us through the Monsters Inc. laugh factory aboard a suspended roller coaster. And, if you’re sad to see the Muppets go, don’t worry. They’re just getting relocated to where the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster used to live.
