Coastal Getaways: Best Beach Destinations to Visit in April
We often associate beach time with summertime. But, have you ever set up a coastal getaway in April? If you think about it, April is the trifecta: calmer crowds, milder temps, and blissfully warm waters.
If we head down to Cancun, for example, we’ve just missed the Spring Breakers. Meanwhile, if we head over to the Amalfi Coast, we’re beating the summer crowds. Yet, the sands remain soft and the waters tantalizing. Together, let’s take a tour around the world, dream big, and then purchase our tickets to paradise.
Maldives
Go big or go home, right? Let’s start with a real stunner. The Maldives is a dream destination any time of year, but April is particularly ideal. The skies are clear; the ocean is calm; and it’s one of the last months before the rainy season starts.
Imagine being perched in an overwater bungalow as you overlook pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. Some of the best laid-back activities here are snorkeling or diving in those clear blue waters and taking a sunset cruise in a traditional Maldivian boat.
Maui, Hawaii
For something stateside, Maui will certainly do the trick, as well. April’s a great time of year because the weather, to no surprise, will be quite pleasant and there will be fewer crowds, compared to the peak summer season.
The island’s golden beaches, explosive sunsets, lush landscapes, and world-class snorkeling make it a haven for peace seekers. When you get the chance, be sure to drive the famous Road to Hana for some spectacular coastal views. One morning, try to make it over to Haleakalā National Park to watch the sunrise. And, if you like to snorkel, Molokini Crater has the most colorful marine life.
Seychelles
Located in the Indian Ocean, it’s hard to compare Seychelles’ powdery white-sand beaches, dense jungles, and turquoise waters to anything else in the world. April is one of the best times to visit because the seas are calm and the temperatures are warm.
Some of the nicest beaches are Anse Lazio and Anse Source d’Argent. But, really, when you’re here, you can island hop to your heart’s delight and simply snorkel in those crystal-clear waters that are overflowing with tropical fish.
Amalfi Coast, Italy
We might not think of Italy right away when we think about a beach vacation in April. But, the Amalfi Coast is showstopping during this time of year, as it springs to life. With mild weather, blooming flowers, and fewer tourists, it’s a fantastic time to be here.
All you have to do is leisurely stroll through the pretty streets of Positano and Ravello before enjoying some fresh seafood as you overlook the Mediterranean. And, when you get a chance, take a boat tour to Capri for some insatiable views – in every direction.
