10 US Airports With Hotels Attached To Terminals
The next time you’re faced with an extensive layover – or need to turn on a dime and book a room because your flight got canceled – wouldn’t it be nice to know there’s an airport right inside the hotel? You don’t have to hop in a taxi, hunt down a shuttle, or board a train to find a place to rest your weary soul.
The good news is, some of America’s biggest hubs may be able to save the day when you need that sort of reprieve. Below, we have ten airports with hotels attached to the terminals, meaning relief is only a short walk or ride away. Spoiler alert: we did cheat the system in Seattle and LA. But, we think you’ll find the compromise to be worth its weight in gold.
TWA Hotel at New York’s JFK Airport
New York’s JFK is a major hub for international flights and those seeking a getaway in one of the greatest cities on Earth. If you’re about to have a long layover at JFK, perhaps on your way to Europe, you might want to book a stay at the only on-airport hotel. Imagine having a shower and a good, long nap instead of a seemingly eternal wait in the terminal? And, truly, this is a very special place. It takes you back to the 60s when TWA was in full swing. With a beautiful infinity pool overlooking one of the airport’s busiest runways, an après swim bar, and yet another cocktail lounge designed to look like the interior of a plane from the era, you’ll find plenty of ways to pass the time.
Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport
Here we have another hub, but this time for folks who love to board a cruise ship to find their happy place. We like to recommend arriving in your port of call a day early – whenever possible. There’s nothing more stressful than arriving in a new city and rushing to board your ship in time. So, whether you’re in Orlando to board a ship, have another massive layover, or just need a place to stay before you return home, the Hyatt Regency will treat you well. It’s located between Terminal A and Terminal B and, like the TWA Hotel, offers fascinating views out over the runway. You can also relax and unwind at either of the hotel’s two award-winning restaurants or bars.
Miami International Airport Hotel
As another gateway to a world of flights and cruises, you’ll find Miami International Airport Hotel conveniently located within the airport, offering a host of amenities. They seem to underscore comfort here more than anything else because they’re quick to note their Sealy Posturepedic sleep system beds, soundproof windows, and home-like amenities. Sounds like a nice place to lay your head if you’ve had a grueling travel schedule. Of course, they have their own onsite eateries, including Air Margaritaville. That’s also where you’ll enjoy breakfast in the morning, time permitting. At this lovely retreat, you’ll still find it easy to access every terminal, with the ticketing counters being moments away, as well as all the departure concourses, and airport concession stands and restaurants.
Grand Hyatt DFW
According to the airport’s website, Dallas Forth Worth International Airport (DFW) sees more than 73 million people pass through its terminal each year. Not only is it likely you’ll pass through those corridors someday, it’s guaranteed the people watching from the hotel will be superb. The Grand Hyatt bills itself as a luxury hotel with rooms and suites that overlook the runways; the Google reviews speak for themselves with over, 2,200 4.6-star reviews. Located in Terminal D, you’re a hop and a skip from TSA checkpoints with easy access to all terminals. The onsite bar, Grand Met, is also known to serve excellent dishes alongside their craft cocktails.
